Agent memory needs its OpenTelemetry moment — LoreKit blog

SpeculationResearchNov 7, 2026

Agent coding tools currently store memory in incompatible formats, including Anthropic's memory tool, Copilot's repo facts stored on GitHub's side, and MCP servers' JSONL graphs. The author, who builds the open-source LoreKit, argues the field needs a shared memory specification, as OpenTelemetry provided for observability. Existing proposals mostly solve export between vendors, not live addressing among tools working in the same repo.
